Who is responsible for compliance at Orlando Health?
Compliance and Ethics serves as the “central nervous system” of the Compliance and Ethics Program, but each team member is responsible for reporting any questionable ethical actions or suspected violations. Under the guidance of the chief compliance and ethics officer, Compliance and Ethics receives and evaluates information that is disseminated to various skilled individuals to investigate and report findings. Questions, complaints, concerns and suggestions come to the department from numerous sources, such as team members, patients, clients, physicians, visitors and community members. Working with the appropriate staff, action plans are developed, executed and monitored to ensure that desired outcomes are attained. The department does not replace other activities within the organization (e.g., risk management or safety management) but serves as a resource for information and coordination of compliance, which affects every facility, site, department and individual within the organization.
What is the Compliance and Ethics Program?
The mission of the Compliance and Ethics Program at Orlando Health is to assist the organization with its commitment to conducting its business in full compliance with applicable federal and state statutes, regulations, the Code of Conduct and corporate policy. The program assists in supporting and maintaining a culture of compliance, integrity and business ethics within the organization. Further, the program aids in the prevention, detection, and resolution of deviations from expected behavior, whether intentional or not. The program provides education and is a resource to consult on compliance matters.
Why do we have the program?
The Compliance and Ethics Program provides many benefits to Orlando Health, including:
- Assurance to the Board of Directors that the organization is addressing any potential liabilities related to errors or improper conduct
- A structure to educate team members on compliance and disseminate legal and policy changes quickly
- Ongoing auditing, monitoring and communication processes to reduce the likelihood of violations and errors
- Helping to ensure that protected health information is kept secure
- Safeguarding all corporate information and assets
- A confidential compliance hotline where team members can raise compliance concerns
What is the Compliance Hotline?
Orlando Health’s Compliance Hotline is a simple, risk-free way for team members to report compliance concerns. The Compliance Hotline connects team members to an outside vendor who forwards the information they provide to Compliance and Ethics for investigation and resolution. Team members can remain anonymous when reporting compliance concerns. All matters reported to the Compliance Hotline are investigated thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Compliance Hotline reports can be made via telephone at 1 (888) 464-6747 or online at OrlandoHealth.EthicsPoint.com. If you do not want to contact the Compliance Hotline you may write us at:
