Bio
Dr. Ancil Abney is a board-certified pediatrician and program director of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship at Orlando Health Children’s Arnold Palmer Hospital. His expertise includes:
- Neonatal opioid withdrawal
- Providing medical education
- Enabling quality improvement
He believes in providing compassionate, evidence-based care that allows his patients and their families to improve their quality of life.
Dr. Abney’s Training
Dr. Abney received his medical degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He completed a pediatrics residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky and a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
About Dr. Abney
Dr. Abney is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics.
His research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has won awards for his research and presentations on the “Eat, Sleep, Console” protocol for treating neonatal opioid withdrawal.
Outside of work, Dr. Abney enjoys spending time with family, playing music and attending concerts. His love of comic books, video games and science fiction helps him connect with patients.

Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
