Fixing Bedtime
Whether your child is having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or waking up refreshed in the morning, consider consulting your physician about an appointment with The Sleep Center. Pediatric sleep studies record brainwaves, breathing and movement to correctly diagnose sleep disorders in children. A sleep study can help address larger issues such as:
- Moving legs too much at night
- Problems concentrating or focusing in school
- Sleeping too much
- Sleepwalking
- Snoring
- Trouble falling asleep
- Waking up frequently at night
- Waking up tired
When a Sleep Study May Be Appropriate
If your child is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, ask your physician if a sleep consultation may help. Our team of sleep medicine and pulmonary physicians and technologists (registered in respiratory therapy) can address a wide range of sleep disorders, including:
- Behavioral sleep disorders for children who do not fall asleep easily or wake up often at night
- Conditions that increase the risk of sleep disordered breathing, such as ADHD, bed wetting, Down syndrome, large tonsils (adenotonsillar hypertrophy), neuromuscular disease and obesity
- Confusional arousals (parasomnias), night terrors and sleepwalking
- Hypersomnia, insomnia or sleep movement disorders
- Multiple sleep latency tests (MSLTs) (to determine narcolepsy)
- Sleep apnea
- Sleep apnea that requires BiPAP or CPAP titration
- Transitioning off of oxygen usage and sleep apnea monitoring
