Bio
Dr. Vijay Mehta is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition. He diagnoses and treats gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional disorders in pediatric patients ranging from premature babies to young adults. He has special interest in:
- Nutrition
- Celiac disease
- Feeding disorders
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Pancreatic disorders
- Constipation
- Motility
- Short bowel syndrome
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Reflux
He believes medical care should lead to as normal a life as possible, with the patient and family taking part in informed decision-making during treatment.
Dr. Mehta’s Training
As an undergraduate, Dr. Mehta studied neurobiology at New College of Florida in Sarasota. He earned his degree in osteopathic medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida, and completed a pediatric residency at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. Dr. Mehta completed a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, in conjunction with the University of Florida. He completed an additional year of nutrition fellowship at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer.
About Dr. Mehta
Dr. Mehta is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and National Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Medical Association and North American Academy of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
Outside of work, Dr. Mehta enjoys binge-watching TV shows and movies. He’s a Marvel Universe and Star Wars fan who also likes to run, hike, play card games and travel.
