Bio
Gerson Valencia, MD, is a pediatric cardiologist and serves as the director of pulmonary hypertension at The Heart Center at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. He cares for children with pulmonary hypertension which is a serious condition that affects the small vessels in the lungs. These children are at risk for developing an enlarged heart and heart failure. He is board certified in pediatric cardiology and general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Valencia earned his medical degree from the Universidad de El Salvador in San Salvador and then completed a residency in pediatrics at Texas A&M College of Medicine, Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi; a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, New York: and a fellowship in pulmonary hypertension at Columbia University, Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York City.
In addition to being a frequent volunteer with Heart Care International in El Salvador, Dr. Valencia is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, and American Heart Association.
