Bio
Farranaz Alvarez Nunez, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified physician specializing in pediatric hematology and oncology at the Haley Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. She cares for infants, children and young adults, and her clinical interests include non-malignant hematology, sickle cell disease, platelet disorders, vascular malformations and more.
What to Expect from Dr. Alvarez Nunez
Parents may be assured Dr. Alvarez Nunez will thoroughly explain their child’s diagnosis, help them evaluate recommended treatment options, and connect them to the hospital’s support services. She also understands her patients are not adults, and she knows how to help them feel more relaxed and secure during exams and treatments. She is sensitive to the fact that pediatric patients may not be able to express their questions and concerns like an adult would, and they need a caring, specialized approach as they move from diagnosis through survivorship.
Dr. Alvarez Nunez’s Training
Dr. Alvarez Nunez earned her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre Y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic, graduating with honors. She completed her internship and residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx and a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine and Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
About Dr. Alvarez Nunez

Why do some Orlando Health physicians not have a patient experience rating?
The Patient Satisfaction Rating is an average of all responses to the care provider related questions, shown above, from our nationally-recognized Press-Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey. Patients that are treated in outpatient or hospital environments may receive different surveys, and the volume of responses will vary by question.
Responses are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best score.
The comments are submitted by patients and reflect their views and opinions. The comments are not endorsed by and do not necessarily reflect the views of Orlando Health.
Ratings may not be present for certain physicians of Orlando Health Physician Group and Orlando Health Physician Associates because:
- The physician has not yet met the minimum number of 30 patient satisfaction surveys to be eligible for display.
- They may be a researcher or type of provider that does not see patients.
- They may practice in a specialty or office that has not yet implemented the specified surveys used for these ratings.
