Bio
Devinn Gorey is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Surgery, specializing in the care of surgical patients ranging in age from newborn to young adult. Her expertise includes:
- Providing post-operative care
- Diagnosing and treating surgical emergencies
- Performing minor inpatient and outpatient procedures
- Providing short- and long-term care for burns
- Administering laser hair removal for pilonidal disease
- Assisting in the assessment and care of trauma patients
She believes in treating her patients as she would her family. By doing so, she finds she can help her patients and their families better understand their diagnosis and adhere to their treatment plans. Devinn also enjoys learning about the backgrounds of her patients and helping them understand their diagnosis and treatment plans.
She is especially interested in her patients’ mental health as they recover from burns and trauma. Devinn has conducted research on the prevalence of PTSD in foster care children.
Devinn’s Training
Devinn earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Florida (UF) in Gainesville. She received her bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation science at the University of Pittsburgh.
She served a student rotation in pediatric general surgery at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer. Her medical training also includes rotations in intensive care, pediatric hematology and oncology, emergency medicine and primary care at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital, Lakeland Regional Hospital and James A Haley Veterans Hospital.
About Devinn
Devinn is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, American Pediatric Surgical Association and Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.
During her training at UF, she volunteered at the Equal Access Clinic, a student-run clinic that provides free healthcare to adults and children.
Outside of work, Devinn enjoys staying fit with yoga and Pilates, spending time with family, traveling to new cities, taking day trips to the beach and going to comedy shows.
