Arnold Palmer Hospital & Winnie Palmer Hospital Receive National Hospital Designations

Orlando, FL (December 7, 2017) – Orlando Health’s women and children’s facilities have been named Top Hospitals by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization. Fewer than six percent of U.S. hospitals achieve this prestigious recognition.

Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has been designated a Top Children’s Hospital, one of only 10 hospitals in the U.S. to earn this designation. Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies is also a Top Teaching Hospital, one of only 36 hospitals in the nation to achieve this award.

Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized as two of the top hospitals in the country,” said Kathy Swanson, president of the Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, which includes both facilities. “Each member of our team is dedicated to providing excellent care to our patients with a promise to be the best hospital possible for the children and families we care for every day.”

To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
