Dr. Zhongbo Hu is a board-certified pediatrician with the Haley Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. He provides care for children, teens and young adults, and his specialties include:

  • Benign hematology disorders, such as Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, leukopenia, anemia and hemophilia
  • Oncology, including solid tumors
  • Lymphomas, including hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis
  • All different kinds of leukemias

Dr. Hu’s philosophy is to treat patients and their families with empathy and respect. He strives to involve patients in decision-making and treatment planning as much as possible.

Dr. Hu's Training

Dr. Hu received his medical training at Beijing Medical University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology Tongji Medical College in China. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Medical Center / Holtz Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hu completed a pediatric hematology oncology fellowship with additional quality training at Case Western Reserve University Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.

About Dr. Hu

Dr. Hu is board certified in pediatric hematology-oncology and general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. His professional memberships include the Children's Oncology Group, American Society of Pediatric Hematology Oncology, American Society of Hematology, American Association for Cancer Research and American Academy of Pediatrics.

With his specific training in benign and malignant hematology research, Dr. Hu is passionate about developing new, targeted leukemia and anti-tumor therapies, including immune and cellular therapies. He has participated in several funded research projects during his post-doctoral training and his career as an assistant professor at the University of Florida. His main focus is clinical and translational research to improve treatments for pediatric leukemia, lymphoma, and other benign pediatric blood disorders and cancers.

Dr. Hu also has received formal training through the Quality Training Program by the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is actively involved in quality improvement projects to enhance patient care and enjoys teaching residents.

Dr. Hu has held academic appointments, most recently as an assistant professor in the oncology department hospitalist medicine program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and in the pediatrics department at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, both in Memphis.
