Dr. Sharon Napier is a board-certified ophthalmologist and chief of pediatric ophthalmology at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. She has more than 30 years of experience and specializes in diagnosing, treating and managing eye problems in children. Her expertise includes:
- Lazy eye
- Uncontrolled eye movements
- Retinopathy of prematurity
- Droopy eyelids
- Weak eye muscles
- Crossed or wandering eyes
- Eye infections and injuries
- Visual processing disorders
- Eye problems related to systemic diseases including diabetes, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and other medical and neurological conditions
Dr. Napier’s Training
Dr. Napier received her medical degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where she completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in pediatric and adult strabismus. She received advanced training in oculoplastic surgery. Dr. Napier also earned a master’s in business administration (MBA) at the University of Kentucky and trained as a registered nurse.
About Dr. Napier
Dr. Napier is board certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a fellow of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a member of the Florida Medical Association.
Dr. Napier previously served as an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky. Her dedication to teaching and patient care has been recognized nationally with Top Doctor and Best Doctor awards, and she has also contributed to numerous peer-reviewed medical journals.
Dr. Napier is passionate about community service. She teaches children at her church, volunteers at homeless shelters and participates in holiday food delivery programs.
Outside of work, Dr. Napier enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, relaxing at their cottage in Canada and reading.
