Melissa is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) on the pediatric orthopedic surgery team with the Center for Orthopedics at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. She has a passion for caring for young patients and has experience in:
- Inpatient hospitalization assessment
- Discharge care management
- Infants with orthopedic needs
- Outpatient pediatric orthopedics
- Musculoskeletal injuries and fracture care
Melissa joined Orlando Health in 2015. She served as a registered nurse at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer for seven years before moving to the orthopedics center.
She believes in treating every patient with the same dedication and compassion she would if they were her family or close friend.
Melissa’s Training
Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of South Florida College of Nursing in Tampa, where she also earned her Master of Science in nursing. She graduated with honors from both programs.
About Melissa
She wanted to become a nurse since childhood, but it was during high school when a nurse practitioner made a large impact in her life and helped shape her decision to become a nurse practitioner.
Melissa is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, an international honor society of nursing. She is certified as a family nurse practitioner (FNP-C) by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and as a certified pediatric nurse by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is licensed as an APRN and as a registered nurse by the Florida Department of Health.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with family, traveling, exercising, sports and outdoor activities.
