Dr. Ancil Abney is a board-certified pediatrician at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. He believes in putting patients and their families at the center of his care in order to improve their quality of life. Dr. Abney’s expertise includes:
- Enabling quality improvement
- Providing medical education
- Treating infants with Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome
Dr. Abney’s Training
Dr. Abney earned his medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando. He completed a pediatrics residency at the University of Louisville Medical School in Kentucky and a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis.
About Dr. Abney
Dr. Abney is certified with the American Board of Pediatrics and Florida Board of Medicine with a certification for Pediatric Advanced Life Support and a license from the Drug Enforcement Administration.
He has held academic appointments at the University of Minnesota Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and the HCA Healthcare/USF Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Abney has won awards for his research and conference presentations for the “Eat, Sleep, Console” protocol for treating neonatal opioid withdrawal. He has authored investigations in the Journal of Hospital Medicine, Journal of Chemical Education and Advances in Physiology Education.
Outside of work, Dr. Abney enjoys spending time with his family, playing music and attending concerts. His enjoyment of comic books, video games and science fiction has helped him connect with patients.
