Expert Pediatric Medical Services
The Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Pediatric Residency Group offers primary care pediatric medical services to the community while providing the opportunity for University of Florida College of Medicine residents at Orlando Health to gain valuable clinical experience under the supervision of board-certified pediatric physicians. As a national “Best Children’s Hospital” ranked by U.S. News & World Report, we are proud to be a teaching hospital providing important training to the pediatricians of tomorrow.
The Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Pediatric Residency Group serves four different pediatric populations based on age or medical need.
Our Newborn Follow-Up Care ensures that babies born at Arnold Palmer Hospital are progressing in a healthy manner up to 4 weeks of age. Circumcisions can be scheduled through 28 days of age. Babies who indicate a need for any kind of special follow-up care are referred to the appropriate Arnold Palmer Hospital specialist.
Our Acute Care treats children with illnesses such as fever, colds, ear infections, diarrhea, etc. Physicians coordinate care of these patients with other Arnold Palmer Hospital specialists as appropriate. In addition, we may provide care for medically complex patients with acute illnesses. Children with injuries should be seen at an emergency room or urgent care clinic.
Our Pediatric Continuity Care provides ongoing well child care. Residents under the supervision of attending doctors provide the following services:
- Evaluation of behavioral issues and developmental screenings
- Evaluation of school readiness and support of literacy through the Reach Out and Read program
- Fluoride application
- In-office testing for flu, strep throat, pregnancy, etc.
- Nutritional counseling and assessment of eating disorders
- Point of care testing
- School and sports physicals

Our Adolescent Care provides specialized services for teens ages 11–18 years. Issues impacting adolescents may include gynecological needs, growth disorders, sexual and reproductive health, menstrual disorders, depression, substance abuse, gender identity and transgender care.
We also provide referrals to community resources. An on-site social worker assists with family needs, such as housing, job assistance, nutritional resources and case management of medically complex patients.
