Pediatric Support Groups

Kidney Kids Support Group

This monthly meeting provides essential support through camaraderie, helping patients and caretakers cope through shared experiences. The group offers opportunities for members to connect and share with others, gain insight on how to cope with and adjust to a diagnosis, and learn about helpful resources in the community. The support group also increases the quality and quantity of support between doctor visits, leading to better self-management for patients and caretakers. The Hewell Kids Kidney Center Kidney Kids Support Group is open to the public and meets the last Thursday of each month from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The meeting is held at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, on the first floor, classrooms 3 & 4. Free parking is available in the Patient and Visitor Parking Garage located next to the hospital’s main entrance on Miller Street. Valet parking is also available for $5. For more information, please contact Michael Schwing, MSW, LCSW, at (321) 843-5938 or send an email to: [email protected]

Online Community for Families

When you’re a part of our community, you’re never alone. We’ve created a place where parents, patients and families can easily connect with one another to discuss their child’s illness, condition and treatment. Community members can share stories and updates and ask questions about the treatment and recovery process, within specific community groups. Community members can choose to join specific groups and follow updates from individual members, and will have the ability to publicly and privately communicate with other community members. Parents can view upcoming events related to their child’s condition and will have access to health resources provided by our specialists at the hospital to help navigate their child’s diagnosis and treatment.
