Michele Pope, MSN, APRN, PNP-PC, CPON, is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP-PC) as well as a certified pediatric oncology nurse (CPON), and is a licensed advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). Michele earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN) from the University of Central Florida in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) from the University of Florida in 1991.
She currently works in the outpatient clinic at The Haley Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Michele has been part of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children since 1991. She has held various positions within the hospital from an inpatient staff nurse for general pediatrics, to an inpatient staff nurse for hematology and oncology pediatric patients, to a staff nurse in the hematology/oncology pediatric outpatient clinic, and then to a Clinical Research Coordinator for the pediatric oncology team prior to returning to school to obtain her master’s degree in nursing to become a pediatric nurse practitioner with the oncology team.
Her primary focus is providing care and education to those children and families who are in active treatment for cancer. Her clinical interests include leukemia/lymphoma, neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma as well as rare solid tumors along with helping to manage patients participating in a clinical trial.
She is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) as well the Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Nurses (APHON) nationally, as well as the local Orlando chapter. She has been an instructor for the Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider course since 2013.
